Botox / Collagen / Restylane & Cosmoplast Injections
If reducing those tough lines between your brows, around your eyes and the naso-labial folds around the mouth, and "plumping up your lips" would make you feel more comfortable with your appearance, these injectables may be for you. Although the number of injections for improving face, lips and lines are numerous and always increasing, we prefer options that have long track records of safety and effectiveness, and that are approved by the FDA. Our patient's safety is a number one concern for us.

Botox
When Botox - botulimun toxin A - is injected into the muscles surrounding the eyes, those muscles can not "scrunch up" for a period of time. They are paralyzed. So the wrinkles in that area, often referred to as "crow's feet", temporarily subside.

Within a few hours to a couple of days after the botox is injected into the affected muscle, the spasms or contractions are reduced or eliminated altogether. The effects of the treatment are not permanent, reportedly lasting anywhere from three to eight months. By injecting the toxin directly into a certain muscle or muscle group, the risk of it spreading to other areas of the body is greatly diminished.

Collagen
Collagen is a natural component of skin and connective tissues that provides fullness and 'rubbery-ness'. Collagen implants are used to smooth out facial lines and wrinkles. An immediate, visible difference in your appearance can be achieved in one short treatment. Commercially available injectable collagen is from a bovine source and approximately two in 100 people will exhibit an allergic reaction. A skin test to rule out allergy is therefore required one month prior to treatment for all first time users. Corrections are temporary and will gradually break down and be reabsorbed by the body within 3-5 months. To maintain the original correction, the injection must be repeated at regular intervals.

Restylane
Recently approved by the FDA, Restylane and generic forms of Hyaluronic Acid Fillers come in a clear gel form. No skin test is needed since they come from a non-animal source. Restylane is commonly used for fine lines and wrinkles. This filler is safe, effective and although temporary, it is longer lasting in most patients than collagen, and can last up to 6-9 months.

Cosmoplast
Cosmoplast is the first commercially available, FDA-approved dermal filler in the United States that does not require a skin test prior to use. Based on more than 20 years of research into the science of the skin, CosmoPlast is a new, innovative treatment for facial rejuvenation. CosmoPlast contains human collagen purified from human dermal tissue and manufactured under controlled laboratory conditions and is uniquely formulated with an anesthetic, for your comfort. CosmoPlast provides new options to meet the need for a same-day, single- visit treatments for lip augmentation and wrinkles.
